We are very pleased to be hosting our first workshop: Teaching To Those At Risk. After many requests for such a training, we are looking forward to bringing together yoga teachers who have an interest in learning more about working with children from juvenile detention centers. As you see below, we are bringing together an impressive group of speakers to train the attendees on how best to prepare themselves with tools before entering such a facility. Whether you are interested in being part of the UpRising Yoga teaching team or would just like to know more about people with trauma healing from yoga, at-risk populations, creating alliances with your community and facilities, we would be overjoyed at having you attend this workshop.

UpRising Yoga is very proud to participate in the Each One Teach One Youth Symposium, to be held on Saturday, August 18, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Central City Neighborhood Partners coalition located at 501 S. Bixel Street, Los Angeles, CA 90017.
This symposium has been put together by the Department of Children and Family Services. It focuses on foster youth and homeless youth, who are oftentimes one in the same. It will offer a wide range of workshops on healthy living topics such as healthy eating, healthy relationship building, physical and sexual health and YOGA!! UpRising Yoga teachers and volunteers will be presenting a yoga demonstration and offering resources to the kids as to how they can give themselves the gift of yoga. In other words, we are going to show and tell about how yoga can transform their lives - this is going to be a lot of fun!
I would love to have each of you to participate in any way you can. Our time slot on stage is at 3pm, but I would love everyone there around 2pm to do a brief rehearsal and some advance promotion of our demonstration. Please see the flyer for more pertinent information.
